About This Item

San Francisco: A. M. Robertson, 1909. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. Pp. xii, 254. Edited by S. O. Howes. Bound in green cloth with spine and front cover stamped with gilt and black lettering. Top edge a tad dust-soiled, fore-edge untrimmed. Endpaper offsetting, as usual, due to binder's endpaper paste. Slight age-toning to cloth, with corners sharp. According to Joshi and Schultz, the essays included here was published in newspapers, but was not collected quickly enough to be featured in The Collected Works of Ambrose Bierce. Vincent Starrett claims Bierce handed off the editing to Howes, who likely wrote the essay titles. A handsome, presentable copy. JOSHI and SCHULTZ, A15; STARRETT, 22.
