Contemporary half leather binding with marbled paper to the boards, five raised bands and gilt titles and decoration to the spine. Illustrated with four black and white plates and in-text illustrations by Otto Speckter. A very good copy, the binding firm, the extremities with some wear, the corners a little bumped. There is a bookplate to the front pastedown and some foxing throughout, including to the plates. Free from previous owners' inscriptions. A collection of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, including 'The Shoes of Fortune', 'The Fir-Tree', 'The Snow-Queen', 'The Shepherdess and the Chimney-Sweep', 'The Elfin Mound', 'The Leap-Frog', 'The Elder-Bush', 'The Red Shoes', 'The Bell', 'Holger Danske' and 'The Emperor Frederic Barbarossa'.
