Embossed titles to front in red and brown, blind-stamped to rear with publisher kanji). 152 pages total, collated by Western standards (both Western and Eastern binding style numbering is used): 15pp (English text), (15pp - Japanese text), (122pp - plates). Includes 26 tipped in color plates, 113 b/w photographs. With two essays (in both Japanese and English): 'The Way of Hamada' by Soetsu Yanagi, and 'Shoji Hamada' by Bernard Leach. Photographs annotated by Shoji Hamada. Extremely rare title on this important Japanese ceramic artist. Olive green ribbed endpapers. Vertical crease in front free endpaper. One corner slightly bumped/scuffed.
