About This Item

London: Hutchinson, 1980. Very Good. FIRST UK EDITION, SIGNED BY AUTHOR. 8vo, pp. 141, (1) + b/w illustration by Leonard Baskin. Original green cloth, spine lettered in silver. Pushing to spine ends. Uneven tanning to edges, top edge spotted. Signed by Fainlight in black pen to title page, musty. Else, clean and tight. In Gerald Rogers-designed green typographic dust jacket: edgewear and creasing, especially at spine ends, a few nicks at extremities. Still, a pleasing copy of Fainlight's poetry collection, originally published by the Gehenna Press in the US. Very good/ very good The US-born UK-based poet, translator and librettist (1931-) won the Cholmondeley Award for Poetry in 1994. A new edition of Sybils was published by the Poetry Society in 2007, the year Fainlight was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
