No place, c.1644. A single copper engraved sheet, very good, sheet: 17 x 21, print size: 12.5 x 17.8 cm., verso blank, a very good copper etching, clean & solid, no issues. RARE ! . *** **** *** . . AN OLD COPPER ETCHED PRINT SHOWING A LYNCHING . . . OF THE LAST CHINESE EMPEROR, OF THE MING . . . DIED IN THE YEAR 1644 OF NEUHOFF. . * This shows Chinese protestors at a lynching, while soldiers beat back a crowd of protesting and onlookers during the lynching of a man to a tree. . Most likely this work came from the Nieuhoff's book on his China embassy from the early Dutch edition. . An impressive, grotesque & horrible sight, also shows two observers being killed by the soldiers. . Etched by O.H. Lode. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . * .
