London: Curwen Press, 1946. A Quadrimestrial of Typography and Graphic Arts. New Series, Numbers 1-18, complete. Totalling over 1,000 pages (some printed in red & black), with numerous plates and text illustrations (several coloured, a few folding, some with tissue guards), series index in Nos. 15 & 18; small cr. 4to; printed paper wrappers, with the original plain tissue dust wrappers, s few with short splits, back flap of Number 8 lightly chipped and Number 11 with piece torn from fore-edge; upper fore-corner of leaves lightly bruised in several issues; printed at the Curwen Press, London, 1946-1953. *A complete run of the Second Series of this influential journal. The first series of Signature, which began in 1935, was suspended in December 1940, after the Curwen Press was bombed in November of that year. When publication resumed after the war, it was decided to start a new series. Includes articles on various aspects of typography and book history, papermaking, and artists such as Paul Nash, Joan Hassall, Edward Lear, Lucien Pissarro, David Jones. a.o. Contributors include Lynton Lamb, Stanley Morison, Reynolds Stone, Michael Ayrton, Jan Tschichold, Ruari McLean, Desmond Flower, and Francis Meynell.
