Check signed by Dickens, mounted to an inserted page in Volume I of the below book. Check is signed by Dickens in blue ink. The date on the check is fourteenth ? 1859. And it is made out for 150 pounds to Frederic Oury W?and canceled by London & Westminster Bank. Check is neatly creased at the end to fit in the book binding. A small pinhole at left side of check, not affecting manuscript. Overall very good.

First edition. Extra illustrated, with over 90 additional printed titles in red and black, portraits, views, and facsimiles. And the inserted signed check. One volume extended into three octavo volumes (7 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches; 187 x 123 mm). xvi, [17]- 367 pp.
Beautifully bound by Riviere & Son in full green morocco. Front boards with a gilt lion and a gilt bust of Dickens at different ages. Spines stamped and lettered in gilt. Back boards with a facsimile of Dickens' signature stamped in gilt. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Gilt dentelles. Top edges gilt, others uncut. Maroon coated endpapers. Spines a bit darkened and outer joints with some minor rubbing. The check is mounted in volume I and folded neatly to fit in the binding. Otherwise a near fine set with a nice Dickens' signature on the check.
