GEORGE H.W. BUSH (1924-2018). Bush was the 41st President. PS. 8” x 10”. N.d. N.p. A photograph signed “Alan ~ Carol Kranowitz – With appreciation ~ best wishes Geo Bush”. The color photograph shows a smiling George H.W. Bush holding a red solo cup next to Alan and Carol Kranowitz and one of their two sons. Notation on the back indicates this was an official White House photograph. Alan Kranowitz (1941-2002) served as chief Congressional liaison for Ronald Reagan as Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. He had previously worked for Senator Thomas J. Dodd, as Senate liaison for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and as assistant director for legislative affairs in the Office of Management and Budget in the Ford administration. The photo is in excellent condition.

Bush, inscribed to Frank Barnett, former Governor of American Samoa.. Official White House photograph, dated February 19, 1992 on verso. Measures 8" x 10". Toning to edges, was likely framed. Marks to verso where it was previously mounted. Printed inscription: "To Frank Barnett, With best wishes." Personally inscribed by President George Bush. When this photograph was taken, President George H.W. Bush was visiting Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Frank Barnett (1933-2016) was serving as the Executive Director of the Bush-Quayle Tennessee presidential campaign at the time of this photograph. Frank Barnett had previously served as the Governor of American Samoa during the Gerald R. Ford administration.

Bumped edge along top. Description of photograph written in blue pen on verso. Signed by United States Ambassador to the United Nations and future President George H.W. Bush, with a unique inscription as ambassador. After four years in the House of Representatives, George H.W. Bush resigned his position to run for the open Senate seat in Texas. He lost the election, but in the process, he ingratiated himself with the Nixon Administration. Originally considered a senior adviser to Nixon, Bush requested the post of United States Ambassador to the United Nations, his first post dealing with foreign policy and an important career decision for the future President of the United States.

The photograph is signed by George H.W. Bush, with inscription that reads: "To Danny - With a lot of happy memories and friendship too - George Bush." An excellent historical association copy. One of the most influential politicians from Illinois in the 20th Century, Representative Dan Rostenkowski served on the House Ways and Means committee during the Reagan years. His political career ended abruptly in 1994 when he was indicted on corruption charges relating to the Congressional Post Office Scandal.
