Sepia tone portrait, 4 þ" X 7", ca. 1950's, a shoulder-up image of the composer sitting, inscribed "To my dear friend and publisher Charley Wall - Cordially - Rolf Liebermann - Zurich 12/10". Excellent condition.<br/> <br/> Swiss composer who served as the director of the Hamburg State Opera and later, the Paris Opera House. Charles A. Wall was a full Colonel during World War II, serving on the staff of General Omar N. Bradley. He abruptly left the military in 1946 and became a successful music publisher. He was a plaintiff in the landmark 1959 antitrust case "Schwartz v. BMI", that also included Ira Gershwin, Virgil Thompson and Gian-Carlo Menotti.<br/> <br/>
