Folding coloured map of Sven Hedin's motor car expedition across Asia 1935-1935. viii + 322pp. Original yellow cloth covered boards, lettered and ruled in gilt on the spine, top edge stained blue as issued. Cloth slightly toned at the edges and head & tale of spine, endpapers and edges a little spotted, text block is tight and the images are clean and bright, faint toning to the top margin of the map but still crisp. In the original dustwrapper, chipped with loss mainly to the head & tail of spine, now protected. 23 x 14cm. "The author was sent by the Chinese Government in 1933 to examine and report on the roads between China and her most westerly province, Sinkiang, in order that regular motor communication might be established. He and his comrades spent some fifteen months on their task and went through perilous adventures." (Publisher's blurb)
