Illustrated, silver embossed blue linen boards/BF w/rubs to corner tips & upper/lower spine edges. DJ/Poor; intact but brittle w/nips, chips, closed tears, losses & discloration. Photo of Canadian author to back. Bookshop price sticker to rear inner flap of DJ matches the publisher's price of two dollars. O'Brien (1898 - 1938), surveyor to the Byrd Antarctic expedition 1928-30, frequently drove huskies on prospecting trips into Northern Canada. This is the debut story of Silver Chief, offspring of a husky and a wolf, found in the wild and befriended and tamed by Sergeant Jim Thorne of the Canadian Mounted Police. Great adventure story.
