Phillips Oppenheim's most celebrated novels, about an ordinary man who's life is turned upside down when he inherits a fortune. The very scarce A.L. Burt edition of this work, published in the same year as the first edition. Published by arrangement with Little, Brown and Co - the publishers of the first US edition - and in the same brightly illustrated Bip Pares dust wrapper, price unclipped.Peter Cradd is an unhappy, ordinary man, who inherits a large fortune from a cousin in New Zealand, and immediately leaves his family.The work of prolific English novelist E. Phillips Oppenheim, who authored over one-hundred novels between 1887 and 1943. In 1927, he was featured on the cover of Time magazine.With the inscription of Alan S. Moore, May 1, 1937, to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with fraying to cloth at back strip tail. Boards bright. Inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper back strip and rear wrap age toned. Loss to back strip head and tail, and to head of the front wrap. Loss to fold of rear flyleaf. Closed tear to tail of front wrap. Two small closed tears to centre of back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, but clean. Very Good Indeed
