Originally published in two volumes by Oak Publications in 1963 and 1968, this is a collection of freedom songs which emerged out of the campaigns against racism and injustice in the early 1960s; the editors worked at the Highlander Center in Tennessee, where music workshops which brought together songleaders from the civil rights campaigns were held in the 1960s; includes many photographs and commentary on the songs (brown cloth with gold lettering; a bright, clean, tight copy)
