Title in gilt on upper board, with a border of intertwined oak leaves in anticipation of the decorative borders designed by Morris for his Kelmscott Press. Decorated endpapers with more Kelmscott-like borders with title and author name. One 8-line initial capital in red and black. One 2-line initial capital in red and black. Handsome colorful children's bookplate with the name Priscilla Mattoon in pencil. First two blank free endpapers removed. Tipped-in black and white frontispiece after a painting by Walter H. Hinton removed. Some wear to spine. Otherwise interior is bright and free from foxing. Unopened. Condition overall: Good+.
