About This Item

London: William Heinemann, 1900. 1st edition. Hardcover. pp. xi, 251. Folio. Bound in original red cloth with gilt lettering & top edge gilt. This is a very large, very heavy, book. The boards are bumped, with rubbing to the edges, and some staining and spotting. The spine has darkened. The top and bottom of the spine is frayed, with some tearing to cloth at the edges. The hinges and joints are tight, but the binding feels a bit 'sprung' - not surprising with such a heavy book. The contents are exceptionally clean and bright, and all plates are present. Overall, still in good condition. Due to weight, we ask that you consult with us first, as to cost and options to ship. With seventy-eight finely-done photogravures and six lithographic facsimiles in colour.
