Mass Market Paperback. Alejandro Casona (1903–1965) was a Spanish poet and playwright born in Besullo, Spain, and a member of the famous Generation of '27. Casona went into exile following the Spanish Civil War and, after passing through Mexico, settled for many years in Argentina. There, he enjoyed remarkable critical and commercial success. He did not return to Spain until 1962, where he remained until his death in 1965, in Madrid. Having been one of the most recognized figures of the Spanish, Mexican and South American literary scene, having attained immense critical success, his return to Spain was a great disappointment, as the main authors and theater critics in Spain at the time considered his work outdated, of a bygone era. His critical reception has regained standing as subsequent generations have recognized the value of his productions, particularly his theatrical works. ; Biblioteca Contemporanea; Vol. 73; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 151 pages .
