About This Item

Glasgow: Printed for the Booksellers, 1840. String-tied Cloth over Board. Very good. 16mo (6" x 3 7/8"); 24pp; front wrapper imprinted with a decorative border and small vignette of a girl holding a birdcage high above a sitting cat, rear wrapper is pp24; lacking publisher's string binding, 3" split at fold, light chipping fore-edge; very good minus. The story of a Sleeping Beauty extends back to the 14th century and has been retold many times, first published by Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé  in 1697.
