About This Item
New York, NY: Beginner Books/Random House, 1962. First Edition, First Thus . Hard Cover/Stitched. Near Fine/Very Good. COLLECTIBLE. First Edition, First Thus. Text/Bright, clean, strong & Near New. Illustrated boards/NF, w/trace edge rubs. DJ/VG; Inner flap 195/195; Strong & sound w/rubs, nips, & faint creasings to edges, rubs & small losses to corner tips, & closed tears & small losses to upper/lower spine, with trace soiling to front. Most successful collaboration between P.D. Eastman (an illustrator in his own right, A Fish Out of Water, Sam & the Firefly, & Are You My Mother?) who wrote the text, and Roy McKie who is admired for his art work in Bennett Cerf's Book of Riddles. Text, limited to a vocabulary of 150 words, considers the marvels of snow. Written in verse, this fun & challenging book begins with, "Snow! Snow!/Just look at the snow!/Come out! Come out!/Come out in the snow" ... no chance of closing the book after such a cheerful invitation. Fine copy.
