About This Item

Glasgow: The Strickland Press, 1944. Pamphlet. 15p., stapled wraps, 5.5x8.5 inches, frontis. portrait of Russell, wraps lightly worn, rubberstamp of the British People's party of verso of front wrap, else very good condition. Russell was one of the founders of the far-right British People's Party and a supporter of Social Credit. Here he defends capitalism, writing that "nearly four fifths of the evils popularly ascribed to Capitalism...are in reality due to the defective monetary system; to out-of-date ideas on the subject of income in relation to employment; and to inability to see that the deserving unemployed can, and should, be supported adequately, with money not derived from taxation.
