Brown cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine and front board. 82 pp 8vo. With the end of the Civil War, the US Military began to turn its sights on the Indian problems in the West which is where German immigrant Charles Springer was sent. Beautifully illustrated by Western artist John W.Hamption, this is a transcription of Springer's diary from July to December of 1865 regarding his interactions with the Sioux Indians in the Western US. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
