About This Item

New York, NY Henry Holt , 1951. Hardcover First Edition (1951); later printing. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR: "Personal regards and best wishes to Colonel Rufus Burrus". Very Good in Good DJ: The Book shows indications of careful use: former owner's name ribber-stamped at the upper corner of the front free endpaper (small circle with in red ink above it) and the same previous owner's name in ink and dated March 16, '54 at the same spot verso; a full-page photographs or such had been been glued to same and there is much discoloration therefrom on that verso page; else light shelving wear to the lower extremities, with at hint of shelf soiling to the outsided edge of the bottom edge of the text block; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. A handsome copy, structurally-sound and tightly-bound, showing several imperfections. Not far from "As New" The DJ shows fairly heavy wear; the rear flap has detached from the body of the DJ and is only held together by the mylar protector; the front flap is partially split but has not become detached; some loss to chipping and rubbing at the extremities; moderate rubbing and faint overall soiling; the outside edges are partially split; some superficial scratches to the rear panel; the price has been clipped; mylar-protected. NOT a Remainder. Some question whether his is a Book-Club edition, as the lower corner of the inside front flap has been clipped (we can find none of the other likely indicators present. Not an Ex-Library. 8vo. (8.5 x 5.9 x 1.75 inches). xvix, 618 pages. Appendices, glossary, index. Liberally illustrated with duotone photographs, maps, battle plans, etc. Decorated endpapers with tritone maps of the European Theatre of operations. Language: English. Weight: 34.5 ounces. First Edition (1951); later printing. Hardback with DJ. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.
