Top edge gilt. A light stain to the very top of some pages but overall this is a lovely copy in an attractive leather binding.

Copy number 61 of just 92 copies reserved for La Librairie des Éditions, out of 189 copies in the total edition. A fine copy with the page edges still uncut. Publishers white paper wraps printed in blue and black. Original glassine around the wraps. A lovely copy, and scarce in such nice condition, of the first printing of Beckett's translation. Although written during 1944, Watt wasn't published until 1953 and it was another 15 years before he completed this much anticipated French translation.

First Edition, First Printing with the words "First Published 1950" printed on the copyright page. The original dustjacket has very minor wear to the head and base of the spine and corners. This First Issue dust jacket has a light "coffee cup" stain towards the 9s.6d. net printed price on the uncut bottom front flap. The printer appears to have had some difficulty with the name Cantwell. Also of importance: note the DJ has a spelling error "deeps" for "depths" in the final sentence of the 2nd. para. The book, 254 pp., 8vo., is in excellent condition. The binding is tight, with no cocking or leaning and the boards are crisp with only minor wear. A great copy of this TRUE FIRST EDITION that precedes the American edition by 3 days. Ex libris Stanislas Joly bookplate inside front cover.

Condition: VG+. First edition, second issue with tipped in title page (as expected). 327 pp. followed by two leaves of ads. Light bumping to corners and spine ends. Previous owner's stamp to FFEP and an owner's bookplate affixed to rear of first color plate. Solid and square book. Front pastedown has some cracking at hinge.

With ALS to Perrier, and a 24 page pamphlet by Boucard titled OBJETS EXPOSES published for an International Exposition in Paris, 1889.Boucard was noted for his extensive travels and adventures as a Naturalist. His travels are best described by the title as: A Record of Adventures, Discoveries, History and Customs of Americans and Indians, Habits and Descriptions of Animals, Chiefly Made in North America, California, Mexico, Central America, Columbia, Chile, Etc., During the Last Forty-Two Years.
