New York: Folkways, [1954]. 10" vinyl record in original pictorial jacket. and kraft-paper inner sleeve. Disc appears unplayed, with excellent gloss and no visible surface scratches; jacket Very Good but for a horizontal surface scratch at bottom third. Includes descriptive booklet with lyrics. Glazer's pioneering recordings of Joe Hill's iconic labor songs, including "The Preacher and the Slave," "Casey Jones the Union Scab," "The Rebel Girl," "Mr. Block," and others. Glazer was the leading exponent of the labor song tradition during the folk revival, and his interpretations of these songs would not be superceded until Utah Phillips breathed an entirely new life into them in the 1970s.
