New York: G. Schirmer, 1975. First edition. Staplebound. Very Good. 62 p. song book with music arranged for piano. Good to very good condition internally, edges worn and rubbed, some rubbing along stapled spine. Preface by John Jacob Niles, explaining the sources of his songs and music. Some are original compositions, some are based on poetry with music by Niles. Titles include Go 'Way from My Window, The Black Dress, The Lass from the Low Countree, Evening, I Wonder as I Wander, Black is the Colour of my True Love's Hair, The Lotus Bloom, The Carol of the Birds, Sweet Little Boy Jesus, Jesus Jesus Rest Your Head, What Songs Were Sung, The Rovin' Gambler, The Gambler's Lament, The Gambler's Wife, Gambler Don't You Lose Your Place, Gambler's Song of the Big Sandy River. Most were copyrighted in the 1940s so this represents a retrospective of his work.
