About This Item
New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons,, 1972. First edition, first printing, signed by the author on the title page in marker pen, his printed name struck through. Signed copies of Herbert's sole non-science fiction novel are scarce. In this work, Herbert draws from his experiences immersing himself in Native American culture to create "a variation on one of the key Dune themes, of Western man inflicting himself upon his environment, failing to live in harmony with it" (Brian Herbert, p. 241). Octavo. Original brown cloth, spine lettered and stamped with device in black, front cover with black vignette, endpapers green. With dust jacket. Small mark on fore edge and knock to bottom edge, contents clean; bright jacket with couple of nicks and single closed tear at foot of front flap fold, unclipped: a near-fine copy in like jacket. Currey, p. 239. Brian Herbert, Dreamer of Dune: The Biography of Frank Herbert, 2003.
