First Edition. 2 volumes; octavo (20.5cm.); publisher's red cloth, gilt-lettered spines, black glazed endpapers; vii,[1],352; vii,[1],352,32(ads)pp.; folding color map in Vol. I. Extremities quite rubbed and worn with corners bumped and spine ends rather frayed, cloth darkened except where cover labels were once mounted to both upper covers; folding map has a long closed tear from being roughly opened, Vol. I textblock shaken with front hinge slightly cracked, else contents mostly very good. A Good or better set in the surpisingly uncommon original binding. Mid-20th-century armorial ownership bookplates of a Roger Dow to front pastedowns along with his tiny pressure stamp, additional contemporary faint ownership rubberstamps to a couple of leaves in Vol. II. SADLEIR 48.
