About This Item

Leiden: Les Delice de la Grand Bretagne., 1707. Pieter van der Aa was apprenticed to a bookseller at the age of nine, and set up in business as a publisher at the age of 23. Over the following 50 years he produced a huge amount of Atlases and Ilustrated books. Les Delice de la Grand Bretagne, with text by his fellow Dutchman, James Beeverell, was published in eight volumes, containing nearly 250 plates and maps of towns, churches, colleges, abbeys and antiquities of Great Britain. Van der Aa's work, though not original, is collected for its decorative quality, as is shown by these delightful views and maps of Great Britain. Excellent condition. Size: 15.5 x 12.5 cm. (6 x 5 inches) Mounted Size: 28.5 x 26 xm
