Maine, 1907-1908. 12mo flexible (14 cm) brown cloth photo album, 50 silver print photographs (3.5" x 4.5") on black album paper, manuscript titles in white ink under images. A lovely album of Southern Maine coastal photos, including images arranged in three sections: the first undated, the second 1907, the third 1908. The first section commences with the Deering House "Deerwander", moves through Kennebunkport, Webhannet (Wells), York Beach, Nubble Island Light, Piscataqua River, and ends at Bauneg Beg Pond in N. Berwick. The second section is labeled 1907, and begins with the Midcoast area of Orrs and Bailey Islands with images of Beals Cove, the Orrs Island Bridge, a "View from Great Island", "Path to Hansons Point", Mackerel Cove, and an image of "Mrs. Sturgis and Mrs. Smith and us"; and continues with photos of Cape Elizabeth, Portland Head Light, a "Battleship entering the Harbor", Saco River, Biddeford Pool with children playing on the beach, and two children "Lawrence and Edith" sitting on a lawn. The third section, dated 1908, includes photos of: Littlejohns Island, Delano Park, Deering House in Hollis, Quillcote "Home of Kate Douglas Wiggin" in Hollis, Ossipee Lake in Waterboro, Cooks Brook, Toad Island, Saco River Union Falls, ends with images of a "Deserted" house and year-older children Edith and Lawrence. A beguiling early 20th century coastal Maine album. CONDITION: Good, 6 cm. partially detached album spine, still intact, 5 detached leaves, most photos with good tonality.
