A survey of travel accounts in the antebellum North written by Southern writers. These accounts are compiled here from contemporary letters, diaries, newspaper articles, and the few books on the subject by Southerners. With 20 illustrations from contemporary sources. This copy inscribed to a collector of Black American history by the author, John Hope Franklin, an esteemed historian.
