First UK edition, first printing (previously published in the USA). xviii, 506pp. In black cloth-covered casing, gilt titles on spine (boards just a little rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends). Text block edges a little grubby. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean and bright. In its original worn and edge-rubbed dust jacket with light chipped and minor loss at spine tips. Dust jacket now protected in an archival-quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Among the finest science fiction novels of the 1960s. Eerily prophetic and vividly realised, Stand on Zanzibar won the 1969 Hugo Award, providing a chilling yet credible portrait of what life might have been like in the 21st century. 8vo.

Synopsis

Stand on Zanzibar is a dystopic New Wave science fiction novel written by John Brunner and first published in 1968. The book won a Hugo Award for Best Novel at the 27th World Science Fiction Convention in 1969.
