About This Item
Souvenir Press, London 1974 Hardcover, 9½" x 6¼", with dust jacket Jacket has repaired tear at top of spine. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket In 1972, as President of the Association in Scotland for Technology and Research in Astronautics, the author chaired a series of discussions on intersteller travel, lead by experts in the technology, astronomy, logistics and psychology of space exploration. The discussions examined the probable aims, means and problems of an Earth programme to find other planets suitable for life, to set up colonies there, and make possible contact with other civilisations. The findings of the conference led to the writing of this book, which reads like science fiction, yet keeps reminding us that the miracle is possible for mankind.
