First edition, first impression of Staying On by Paul Scott in original publisher's cloth binding with the original clipped dust wrapper.The novel is set in India after Indian independence in 1947. Its protagonists, who first appeared in Scott's well known Raj Quartet series, are the last remaining British couple living in the town of Pankot. It was adapted into a television film in 1980.Paul Scott was an English novelist who was posted in India during World War II. This is the clear inspiration for many of his famous works. In original publisher's cloth binding with clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. The dust wrapper is slightly worn to the extremities and there is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Near Fine
