Additionally, there is a mailing envelope - written in Anne Morrow Lindbergh's hand - postmarked from her home in Michigan to Mr. Conger Goodyear, a philanthropist & industrialist best known as a founding member of the New York Museum of Modern Art. industrialist "The Steep Ascent" is a fictionalized account of an actual flight event which occurred over the Alps - Anne Morrow Lindbergh's husband, famed aviator Charles Lindbergh, was flying the plane of that event. Mrs. Lindbergh herself was a noted aviator -- she first flew solo in 1929, became the first American woman to earn a 1st-class glider pilot's license in 1930, and made many exploratory flights with her husband.
