A selection of Steinbeck's best work prior to 1940, chosen by his editor and friend, Pascal Covici. Included are excerpts from "Grapes of Wrath," "The Moon Is Down," "Tortilla Flat, and "Bombs Away," as well as the complete novel, "Of Mice and Men." Third Printing of the First Pocket Books Edition. 312 pages in pictorial wrappers showing minor wear at spine ends and edges, some light surface creasing, but no significant flaws. Text shows a black mark on fore edge that may be faded remainder mark, previous owner's last name on fep and again on title page, o/w text is clean and unmarked, tight and square. Very decent reading copy.
