About This Item

Lunenburg, Vermont: Meriden-Stinehour Press, 1988. BRAND NEW in a BRAND NEW dust jacket. Perfect condition [just removed from the publisher's shrinkwrap and original cardboard shipping box so we could write this description]. NOT a remainder. Sharp corners. Fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked - obviously never read. 1988. Limited to 1200 numbered copies, this being #440. An elegantly produced volume, with 70 illustrations -- most in color. Printed letterpress on Mohawk Superfine paper. Described here are over 1000 imprints from 1950 through 1979. Historical introduction by Roderick Stinehour. Bound in the original blue cloth, stamped in bright silver on the spine and front cover. Complete with pristine dust jacket. From the Book Source Monthly review: "There may never have been an imprint bibliography so rich in books the average bookman would like to own; indeed, would like to read... A list of the publishers represented here would be a nearly complete list of the best scholarly and bookish institutions of this country... American Antiquarian Society, the Grolier Club, The Limited Editions Club, the Typophiles, the Pierpont Morgan Library, the New York Public Library..." From the dust jacket, quoting The Book Collector (Vol. 27, No. 4, 1976): "When the intellectual history of this period is examined it will be found that The Stinehour Press played a leading role in printing a record of our culture. It has been a leading force as a scholarly printer, and it has played an equally major role in its contribution to typographic excellence.". First Edition, Limited 1200 copies. Hardcover. New/New. xxi, 301pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
