About This Item

New York: Viking, 1992. Near fine in very good plus dust jacket.. Inscribed sixth printing of this collection of off-kilter fairy tales, winner of a 1993 Caldecott Honor. THE STINKY CHEESE MAN was Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith's second work as an author-illustrator team, and one of their best-known: it won the NEW YORK TIMES Best Illustrated Book Award, as well as a Caldecott Honor. Smith's charmingly peculiar artistic style has graced publications from children's literature to periodicals, and even the covers of punk rock albums. His children's book illustrations have earned him numerous accolades, including two Caldecott Medals and five New York Times' Best Illustrated Book awards, as well as the adoration of numerous slightly off-center kids (including this cataloguer, who has many fond memories of THE STINKY CHEESE MAN). 10.5'' x 8.5''. Original color pictorial boards with "reinforced binding" label. Original unclipped ($16.00) color pictorial dust jacket with Caldecott Honor medallion sticker. [52] pages. Illustrated in color. Inscribed by Scieszka to front flyleaf, "To Scott and Steven / 2 Stinkers!". Jacket with light wear, a bit of pealing to medallion sticker. Binding with a touch of bimping to edges. Bright.
