First UK edition of this work, preceded by the US edition in the same year. Final Mr Moto novel by John P Marquand, a thrilling and suspenseful work. This novel was made into a noir crim film directed by Richard L Burton and starring Robert Wagner, Joan Collins, and Edmond O'Brien. Mr Moto is a Japanese secret service agent, one of John P. Marquand's recurrent characters, protagonist of six novels published between 1935 and 1957. The character was initially created for the Saturday Evening Post which needed stories with an Asian hero after the creator of Charlie Chan had died. This volume is a story of gambling, interest, and much more. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine. Small ink inscriptions to front free endpaper.
