Edinburgh: Edinburgh University Press, 1983. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Very Good. From its beginnings until 1975’ 8vo, black cloth boards with pictorial dust jacket. Viii + 151pp, illustrated with photographs throughout. A little shelf wear to the dust jacket and there is a small dent to the upper board. Generally the inner book is in near mint condition. Bruck was the Astronomer Royal for Scotland and Professor of Astronomy at Edinburgh University. ‘This volume is a history of astronomy in Edinburgh from its early days in the town, in the University and at the Royal Observatory. It traces the contributions made by Edinburgh men to the progress of astronomy..intended to be of general interest to the general reader as well as to astronomers and historians of science.’ This copy was a gift from Bruck and includes a signed letter from him, dated 1983, which he sent with this book and his compliments.
