About This Item

Woolwich: The Royal Artillery Institution, 1928. Paperback. Very Good. 7" by 5". None. An early edition of this illustrated work on the history of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. A second edition of this history of the Royal Artillery, with nine plates, collated and complete. This history of the Royal Artillery Regiment was originally compiled by Cuthbert Aubrey Lionel Graham to help soldiers preparing for the Second Class Certificate of Education. Comprised of ten chapters, the volume discusses the artillery before the regiment's formation, the regiment's early days, and the important role it played in in The Seven Years War, the Revolutionary and Peninsular Wars, Battle of Waterloo, The Indian Mutiny, The South African War, and the Great War. The Royal Regiment of Artillery is one of two regiments that make up the artillery arm of the British Army. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front wrap and the title page . Reads 'Master W. A. Fordham mbr R.A., 28/5/28', indicating that the prior owner of this volume was a member of the Royal Artillery. In the publisher's original blue paperback binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, with some light sunning to the wrap near the rear joint. The volume is missing a little wrap to the head and tail of the spine, and has a small tear down the front joint near the head. A little bumped towards the extremities. The front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally bright and clean, with the odd spot towards the front and rear. Very Good
