About This Item

Random House, 1965. Hardcover. Excellent. 10x8x1. Very RARE copy of this Landmark book as it has the original Author Letter. This is so RARE that it was not even included in the "A Collector's Guide and Checklist to American Landmark Books by Gary Mitchell and Dan Hubbard. I actually brought this to Gary Mitchell's attention when we were corresponding and I believe I provided (sold) him the only other copy of this letter I have ever seen and I have been collecting and selling Landmark book for 30+ years. What is interesting about this letter is that it is larger than all the other "Dear Young Reader" letters provided to members of the "Young Readers of America" Club. So you definitely want this to complete your Landmark collection! The letter itself is in Excellent condition and still in the trifold folded condition as shipped from Random House. Rare Collectible Pictorial Cover Book is in Very Good or better condition with a tight binding and clean crisp internal pages. Inside text is in Excellent Condition and appears to be Unread! No writing or markings in the book. Outside pictorial covers are nice with some minor fading to the back cover and some minor corner and edge wear. Overall a very nice unread and Non Ex-Library copy of this title. Very Hard to Find as a Non-Library Book in this condition! This book was NOT published with a Dust Jacket. Landmark Books Volumes 104-122 are only available in the picture cover format, also these titles had virtually no trade sales, with public and school libraries taking most of the books. Landmark Books and World Landmark Books are accurate, in-depth stories for young people in the 9-15 year old range. These living histories were written by award-winning authors or by men and women who experienced the events first hand. Written during the 1950's and 1960's and illustrated either with two-color drawings or clear photographs, the books are informative, enjoyable, and well worth reading and collecting. The Story of Thomas Alva Edison Landmark Book #110. Here is a colorful account of America's greatest inventor, who was also one of American's most rugged individualists. Simply and clearly the author explains Edison's contributions to the electric light, the telephone, the phonograph, the electric locomotive, radio broadcasting, motion pictures, and many other aspects of our modern electrified world.
