About This Item
New York: I. Riley & Co., 1807. John Carr's (1772-1832) wrote a series of travel books that were popular, but critics thought him pedestrian and some accused him of plagiarism. His works are scarce to rare now. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the Third American Edition, published one year after the English. Full leather binding, rather worn but sound. The title on the spine is faint but discernable as red & gilt. The text is clean; 334 pages. Floodmarking throughout, but not contaminated. Previous-owner has signed in the rear endpapers with cartoon heads and replicated "the end" on the last page. Quite interesting period calligraphy! The last signature of the textblock seems weak but holding. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Third Edition.. Full-Leather. Very Good Minus/No Jacket.
