The printers being MacDougall and Sons, 80 West Street, Sheffield. ; B&W Illustrations; 60 pages; This little book of verses is by M. S. R. We have been able to identify this poet as Martha Susan Roberts, from the address given in the text, principally Queen's Tower, Sheffield, home of the Roberts family at this time, March 1892. The book has an inscription by Archdeacon Blakeney dated April 1892, who was the author's father and the first Archdeacon of Sheffield. It contains a requiem poem to another Blakeney, the Rev. Canon R. P. Blakeney, who was her uncle. Martha married Samuel Roberts, who became an MP, as did her son, the second Samuel Roberts, they both also served as Lord Mayor of Sheffield. The book contains poems written for her children, and on the deaths of both family and public figures, as well as a collection of hymns. An interesting piece of Sheffield memorabilia. .
