A history from the late 19th Century into the 20th Century of the vicinity of the area where the Caxton Press of Christchurch New Zealand was located, rather than a history of the Caxton Press itself. "Three years later [1888] an earthquake, which brought down the Cathedral spire, also damaged the bakery of William Robertson on the eastern side of Victoria Street, and almost opposite Day's butchery [. . .] He was more prompt in having his bakery renovated than were the Cathedral authorities in replacing the spire. Almost a year after it had come down, a number of rooks were seen one evening circling its truncated summit. Their doing so was interpreted in some quarters as a hint to the authorities to hasten the work of repair." - page 49. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
