NY: New Directions, 1947. Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo. 171pp. 4th printing of the 1st edition, with jacket design by Alvin Lustig. G+/G. Hardcover book bound in decorative paper boards shows moderate wear at heel and crown of spine, as well as board tips. Lightly bumped bottom corners. Unclipped "$2.75" jacket shows chipping and wear at spine ends. 1/3" chip out at top of front panel, 1" chip out near spine hinge at top of rear panel. Williams' name dulled on spine. Lustig design remains attractive, despite flaws.
Synopsis
A Streetcar Named Desire is a play written by Tennessee Williams that opened on Broadway on December 3, 1947.The story dramatises the life of Blanche DuBois, a Southern belle, after going through a series of personal losses, leaves her aristocratic background seeking refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a New Orleans apartment building. Considered to be Williams’ most popular work, it is one of the best and most critically successful plays of the 20th century. The play has inspired many adaptations in other forms, notably producing an acclaimed film that was released in 1951.

Unless otherwise requested, expedited domestic purchases ship via USPS Priority Mail; overseas orders via USPS First Class International. Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts.
