Herschel Lindsey (Principal) 1968-1979 (b 9/20/1918 d 10/7/2000)
Herschel D Lindsey, principal of Ferris High School since 1968, is retiring at the end of the 1977-1978 school year. Lindsey was principal of Salk Junior High School at the time of his transfer to Ferris.
A 1936 graduate of North Central High School, Lindsey has been a District 81 staff member for 33 years although he began his teaching career at Opportunity in the Spokane Valley.
He is also a 1940 graduate of Eastern Washington University and holds a bachelor and master degrees in education from Whitworth College.
Since 1947 he has been a school principal. He administered the Colombia, Regal, Garfield and Cooper elementary schools before becoming Salk's first principal in 1961.-----------------------
Lindsey, Herschel D. (Age 82) Entered into rest October 7, 2000 in Spokane, his lifetime residence. Herschel was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church, member of North Hill Masonic Lodge #210 F&AM.
Scottish Rite Bodies, El Katif Shrine, El Kabl Shrine Band, Royal Order of Jesters Court 65, Spokane Retired Educators Association, Washington State and National Education Association.
