An examination of the "genealogising" in Greek literature from Homer on. "Homer "knows that Agamemnon's father was Atreus; Hedios asserts that he wa Pleisthenes; the commentators add that Pleisthenes was Atreus's son and predeceased his father, so that Agamemnon was known as son to Atreus. Here plainly there is no question of "ignorance": there was some reason which compelled Hesiod to change the accepted genealogy and change it in a certain way." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 353 pages .
