A comprehensive work, the author discusses many important aspects of science, geography, and geometry, before looking globally at the wider world, including at the ancient history of Greece and Greek mythology. This work provides an interesting insight into what the Georgians knew of the world and ancient history at the end of the eighteenth century.By Alexander Adam, known for his writings on Roman antiquities. He was a private tutor to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh Alexander Kincaid. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, front board is detached but present. Some discolouration to the joints and extremities. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities, and a very small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. A few light marks to the boards. A little wear to the rear joint. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age toned with the occasional spot. Prior owner's ink inscription and a stamp to the title page, and the occasional ink note to the margins. Good Only
