London: Richard Bentley, 1839. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Vol. 1 only of 2 vol. set: xii, 405 p. 22 cm half-leather binding with marbled boards and gilt design on spine. Top spine label missing. Volume label present. Moderate edge wear. Armorial bookplate on front pastedown for Sir William Lewis Herries, probably the general by that name. Offsetting to opposite endpaper. A little foxing to first pages and dark marks to the top of p. 405 but the rest of the volume is neat and clean.
