A first American edition of John Betjeman's autobiography, naturally written in verse. Complete with an unclipped pictorial dust wrapper. The autobiographical poetry of Sir John Betjeman, written in blank verse and detailing his early life until his premature leaving of Magdalen College, Oxford. It was adapted into a film by the BBC.Sir John Betjeman (1906-1984), an English poet and writer known for being Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death.The first U.S. edition of this work. Complete with an unclipped and smart dust wrapper, featuring a photograph of Betjeman taken by Cecil Beaton.A smart copy. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with just a touch of wear to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper is a little worn, with some sunning to the spine and general wear to the boards; a small tear to the top of the front cover. Front endpaper has been removed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
