Name of previous owner inscribed Nov 1940, on back of front endpaper. John Miller Turpin Finney (1863-1942) was the first president of the American College of Surgeons. During World War I, he commanded the Johns-Hopkins Medical Unit, promoted to Brigadier General. Many years Dr Finney was a professor of surgery at Hopkins; he was also closely associated with Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore. Includes a separate cutout article with a photo of Dr Finney from "Who's Who in the Roland Park-Guilford District", undated; ; Signed by Author .
